Finn Kappe, Architect
The orientation of my practice is toward combining essential elements to create architecture primarily sensitive to light and space. Careful decisions regarding siting, proportions, the handling of materials and detail, and inventive sequencing of interior spaces, help transform the mundane, to establish vibrant, lasting architecture.
Whether the program is for a small or large residence, or a multi-million dollar commercial project, resources are always considered critically - for they are a limitation and inspiration to the work. The body of the work is based on sound principles while initial points of departure and fine-tuning are often based on practiced intuition and instinct. Quality and character stem from a commitment to minimum development.
This is not to say that less is always more, but to suggest that making the most with the least is the practice of architects and alchemists.
